Meet Doug

Doug lives on the southeast side of Indianapolis with his bride of 48 years, Donna Carol, and they are active in First Church of the Nazarene.  They have six children together.  Doug has served in various ministries as a trustee, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, small group leader, missions, and as a committee member for a church building program.  Doug is a graduate of Indiana State University, with a B.S. degree in Marketing and has worked on his MBA at Butler University.

In April of 1989 Doug became a career agent for Preferred Risk Insurance, now GuideOne Insurance, a niche marketer for churches, schools, and senior living communities.  In the years following he became GuideOne’s largest writer of church insurance in Indiana and the second largest in the Midwest.  In his 37 years at GuideOne Doug has been an Agency Manager, sat on the “President’s council,” was awarded “Midwest Topper”, is a Commercial Career Star, and has earned the Superstar Production award 25 years.  He is certified by Cambridge University in “Risk Management for Churches and Schools.

Today Doug and his staff currently service over 370 churches, senior living communities, schools, camps, academies, and nonprofit institutions here in the midwest.  “Having dealt, in the past, with the risks associated with running a manufacturing business with 32 employees, plus being involved as a father with a family of six children, you quickly realize that the main concern is not, ‘do we have coverage,’ but rather, ‘what should we be doing to protect what has been entrusted to us?’”  Today, many organizations want to be proactive in providing coverage for the people who depend upon them, our team works to provide protection beyond the coverage.  As a direct result Doug has developed the 7 Crowns of Ministry, a survey specifically designed to help church leaders and other nonprofits be good stewards of the people and ministries God has entrusted to them. Providing guidance for making the best decisions to protect the “ministries,” because the “ministries” are not the buildings, … it’s the People.
